Barrington Riddick

Owner/Operator - Sweet Cold Treats & Off The Hook Seafood & Chicken

Barrington Riddick owns and operates Sweet Cold Treats and Off the Hook Seafood & Chicken. Hailing from Bertie, NC, he was raised by parents Barron and Beverly Riddick. He moved to Greensboro to attend GTCC after graduating from Bertie High. From there he graduated with a degree in auto body repair. Although he loved working on cars, he also had an interest in working for himself.

He started off at the “Sidewalk Cafe” before branching out on his own. In 2006 he made enough money to start Sweet Cold Treats debt-free. Sweet Cold Treats is a licensed peddler vendor serving Philadelphia Water Ice in North Carolina with over 10 flavors to choose from. Once customers had a chance to taste this Italian ice a slogan was born “Taste better than ice cream!” Barrington prides himself on maintaining a warm and friendly atmosphere that will keep customers coming and they do.

Sweet Cold Treats has mobility for church gatherings, children parties, school activities, carnivals, and special events. We have served at: the Philadelphia Water Ice Show, Festivals in the Park, NC A&T’s homecoming, A&T Health Fair, Aggie Fest, Kids on Wheels Foundation fundraiser, National Night Out in the Community, Annual Run for Red (American Red Cross), Lexington BBQ Festival and the Community Theater of Greensboro.

When asked what makes Sweet Cold Treats different from others, Barrington says, “It’s the customer service I provide. The kind of spirit and generosity I exude lets customers know that I appreciate their business. The warm and friendly atmosphere brings them back. Most importantly, I always put God first because He’s the one who directs my path. I’m fortunate to be in a flexible position where I can help others by offering job opportunities, mentoring youth, and allowing youth the opportunity to work while encouraging and preparing them to become entrepreneurs.”

After serving different communities, Barrington started to notice his peak months were warmer months. He wanted to serve people year-round and ventured out to hair salons and places he knew his treats would be appreciated in colder months. While doing this he decided he should start selling hot food as well. Barrington started renting his uncle's food truck until he was able to buy his own food truck.

Off the Hook has been serving North Carolina ever since. This southern-fried menu is best known for its delectable signature “Around the World” plate which consists of three different types of meat. Off The Hook caters to foodies who love fried chicken with all the trimmings. We are available for all the above-listed functions; and more. We’ve made appearances at the Greensboro Food Truck Festival as well.

Barrington and his crew can’t wait to serve you!
